For the final lab we did a Christmas theme. To go with the theme I wore a Santa hat. it had blinking lights. My group worked with the Pre-K again. Some of the kids were really intrigued by my hat. After me and a few of the kids talked about my hat Dan read a book so we could set up. We had them decorate their own Gingerbread Man that Joe baked once Dan was done reading "The Gingerbread Man". I read Frosty the Snowman After the kids eat their Gingerbread men. After I finished reading we brought the kids in to play the Rudolph game. The kids really loved the game. It was a great feeling to know that all the kids wanted to play the game. I felt this was a better time then the first time we had this group the lab before. It seemed the kids really enjoyed themselves.

On Saturday St. Mary's held a Bizarre from 10am until 4pm. This event is when there are games for the children and Merchants set up shops. I was helping to run the games in the cafeteria. The game I ran was the "Fishing Game". The children would fish using a bamboo pole with a magnet and get a plastic toy. on the bottom there was letters which represented the amount of tickets they won. I helped the entire time. It was really rewarding to be there because the children looked and sounded like they were having a great time. They seemed to really like my game because they kept coming back to play over and over again. Some of the children played multiple times in a row.
At St. Mary's we celebrated Thanksgiving during the lab. My group worked with the Pre-k group. This was an eye opener for how the pre-k would be. in the Pre-k room we did finger painting lead by Joe. With this activity we had the Pre-k make hand turkeys using finger paint. After a few minutes Dan red the group a book on Thanksgiving. He got the entire group to be in on it. Once they were done with the book they came into the gym to play some games. I lead the group in builders and bulldozer, but called it planters and harvesters. They seemed to really enjoy this game. I felt the Pre-k group was loads of fun. i would love to keep working with this group of students.

Today at St. Mary's we did a Halloween theme. The college students dressed up in costumes. After we did the observation of the kids in the gym group we split off into our different groups. My group was special projects. we were split up between the gym group and the pre-k. This was very beneficial for next week. It helps give the group a heads up on what to expect from the pre-k. We had to do a game with everyone who was still there. I felt it went very well. All the kids loved it. Then we did a dance. We did the Monster Mash. It could have gone better. The last thing we did was a cheer. We did it to Spooooky St. Mary's. This fit the Halloween theme and was a great end to the day.

This lesson was hard to teach without volley balls. So I tried to use imagination. this really focused on the skills. After watching the video of myself teaching volley ball again I realized that I need be more aware of time. I went over. I seemed to be speaking a little louder this time. This is what I said during the lesson.
(To whole class)
Ok you don’t want to be pushing out. We are going to try the bump first. So everyone is going to get arms out. Make a fist and cup it with the other hand. You don’t want to lock, you want to cup. Thumbs on top and you are going to bump. Up a little bit. Yup. Looks good.
(To Cory )
Lets see yours. Yup
Very good George
Nice Job Matt
(To whole class)
You want to bend your knees. Remember the athletic stance? If you are like this it will go backwards. You want your knees bent. So it goes up.
Nice jo… ah Greg too high. You want to follow through. But if you follow through like this you are going to push it backwards. And you’ll smack yourself in the face. You don’t want that.
(to whole class)
So. We are going to get in a circle and pass the volley ball using the bump. So bring the circle in. A little closer. that’s good. I'm going to bump it to the next person. We are going to pass it around the circle. All we are doing is just bump.
O' k now we are going to add a second one into it so there will be two ok ready? Ok and grab the balls.
We are going to add set, which is the next step after bump.
I'm going to bump it to Matt who bumps to Corey. As you see Corey is under the ball. You want fingertips not palm. You don’t want to slap the ball. You are going to push up. You don’t want to smack. You use the set so the next person can spike. So what we are going to do is set to ourselves and bump. You can do what ever one you want. You can do bump or you can do the set. And there is the second one. Ok what I'm going to do is give everyone a ball. Ok and we are going to practice the spike against the wall. So that way we don’t hurt each other. You don’t want to hit it at other people. that’s going to be dangerous, and we don’t want to be dangerous.

When we went to St. Mary's it was Superhero day. This meant that all the college students were dressed up as superheros. I get really into this type of thing. I was Running Man. My costume worked on the imagination of the kids. I was asked why I was wearing a towel for a cape. After I got everything squared with my costume with the kids we played the games the group had in mind for them. The cafeteria group is really different from that of the gym group. This group really wants to do their own things. It was a great experience to work with the kids that are in 2nd grade to 6th grade.
In prelab we worked on the games that we would be playing for the second teaching experience at ST. Mary's. The games are focusing on leaping, horizontal jumping, and sliding. These three skill are basic motor developmental skills. I made an adaptation to the game of sharks and minnows. I named it Batman Through Gotham. The kids who are Batman (the minnows) are trying to get to the other side but must leap. This makes it seem like Batman is on his grapple hook and swinging. The three in the middle are the villains, named Joker, Penguin, and Riddler (the sharks) are trying to tag Batman and are sliding around. When Batman is tagged he begins to jump to the other side. Once second time he is sliding around. The third time he joins the villains as another villain of Batman. When I thought of this game it looked like it was a perfect game for the group I was assigned which was the Cafeteria Group.
